Blue Tigers join hands in India's fight against Covid-19

NEW DELHI: With Covid19 Corona virus creating havoc, several members of the Blue Tigers have come forward to lend a helping hand by contributing for the social cause. “As an Indian it's my responsibility to lend a hand to the cause in whatever possible manner I can," defender Pritam Kotal, who contributed INR 50,000/- to the West Bengal Chief Minister's fund stated. But there are others who are trying to help in a different manner -- midfielder Pronoy Halder for example. Halder who wore the captain's armband against Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 has taken up the responsibility of providing food to some underprivileged kids who earn their bread on daily basis. "There are a lot of underprivileged kids at the Barrackpore Mangal Pandey Football Coaching Camp who earn on a daily basis. The situation is a bit difficult now. So I am helping procure food, or food items for them to come out of the crisis," Halder mentioned. “I know tha

AIFF donates Rs. 25 lakhs to PM CARES Fund

In wake of the crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic, All India Football Federation has pledged to contribute Rs. 25 lakhs to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s PM CARES Fund. All India Football Federation President Mr. Praful Patel said: “The love, care and support from countrymen has provided us motivation all throughout. Hence, now is the time to pay back our country in whatever manner we can. We need to stand together and help each other hoping to overcome the crisis.” The AIFF has also directed all employees to work from home from March 14 itself, and all footballing activities under AIFF aegis have also been suspended till further notice.

Muscat: After the clash between hosts Oman and Bangladesh was crystal clear as the Red Warriors romped to a 4-1 win in a Group E clash of the joint 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup qualifier at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (SQSC). Lionesses crowned the Hero U-17 Women’s Championship by defeating Tigresses

Lionesses emerged champions of the FSDL-organised Hero U-17 Women’s Championship, defeating Tigresses 7-2 in the final here on Sunday. Goals from Lynda Kom Serto (17’, 50’), Priyanka Sujeesh (18’), Priyangka Devi Naroem (34’), Sumati Kumari (37’, 54’) and Sai Sankhe (69’) sealed the win for the Alex Ambrose-coached side before Nisha (76’) and Karen Estrocio (81’) got some consolation for the Tigresses. Lionesses picked up from where they left in the league phase after winning all three of their games. The 4-1 win over Tigresses on Friday was only a prelude as Lynda Kom led from the front to break the deadlock. The crowd was treated to some tantalizing display of football as all four goals in the first half were awe-worthy.
