Manama: The Indian women's football team beat lower-ranked Bahrain 5-0 in their international friendly match here on Sunday. Pyari Xaxa (19th and 68th minutes) scored twice while Sangita Basfore (13th), Indumathi 34th, Manisha (69th) were the other goal-getters. Pyari was, however, sent off by the referee in 73rd minute. Bahrain are ranked 85th in the FIFA chart as against India's 57th position.   The Indian Women’s Team, having played two friendlies in Dubai, UAE, will now move to Bahrain, where they will play another two friendlies against the Bahrain National Team and the Chinese Taipei. The team has already faced UAE (4-1) and Tunisia (0-1) in the two matches in Dubai, and will now travel to Bahrain on Thursday, October 7, 2021 for the next leg of their friendlies. After playing the two friendlies, the Indian Women’s Team will then fly out to Sweden, where they are set to face two Dammalsvenskan (tier 1) sides. Looking back at the two friendlies in Dubai ahead of the team’s departure to Bahrain, head coach Thomas Dennerby said, “We should have won the game against Tunisia with a couple of goals. 23 member squad for Indian Women’s Team’s friendlies in UAE, Bahrain and Chinese Taipei

  NEW DELHI: Indian Women’s Team head coach Thomas Dennerby has named a 23-member squad for the upcoming friendly matches in the UAE and Bahrain, starting from Saturday, October 2, 2021.   The team, that is currently camping in Jamshedpur with the help of the Government of Jharkhand, will travel to New Delhi on Wednesday, September 29, from where they will travel to the UAE for two friendly matches against the United Arab Emirates National Team (October 2) and the Tunisia National Team (October 4).   The team will subsequently travel to Bahrain, where they will play two friendlies against the Bahrain National Team (October 10) and the Chinese Taipei National Team (October 13).   Head coach Thomas Dennerby stated, “After training for about a month in Jharkhand, we are extremely happy to be going for these friendly matches in the UAE and Bahrain.   Kerala Sports Minister Shri V Abdurahman at a press conference organised at the secretariat earlier today announced Government of Kerala’s collaboration with All India Football Federation on multiple projects. As part of the programmes, and in an endeavour to promote and encourage women’s football, the Government of Kerala along with the AIFF and KFA will also host an International Football tournament in Kochi in December 2021, ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 which is slated to be held from January 20-February 6, 2022. Furthermore, Kerala will host the final round of the 75th Santosh Trophy National Senior Football Championship, the minister informed. Lionesses emerged champions of the FSDL-organised Hero U-17 Women’s Championship, defeating Tigresses 7-2 in the final here on Sunday. Goals from Lynda Kom Serto (17’, 50’), Priyanka Sujeesh (18’), Priyangka Devi Naroem (34’), Sumati Kumari (37’, 54’) and Sai Sankhe (69’) sealed the win for the Alex Ambrose-coached side before Nisha (76’) and Karen Estrocio (81’) got some consolation for the Tigresses. Lionesses picked up from where they left in the league phase after winning all three of their games. The 4-1 win over Tigresses on Friday was only a prelude as Lynda Kom led from the front to break the deadlock. India U-16 girls held to a 1-1 draw by eventual table-toppers Laos in their final fixture of the first round of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 Qualifiers at the MFF Stadium in Ulaan Baatar today (September 23, 2018). Following the result, Laos, having amassed 10 points from 4 matches qualified to the second round of the qualification. India finished their campaign with 7 from 4 matches. The India U15 Women’s side scored five goals in each half as they thumped Nepal 10-0 in a totally one-sided group encounter of the ongoing SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship being held at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Hattricks by Priyanka Devi and Sunita Munda was complimented by a brace from Lynda Kom, with goals from Santhiya and Anay Bayi completing the rout. Lynda Kom had opened the scoring in the 4th minute as India went on to pile the pressure on their northern neighbours. But the scoreline didn’t reflect the dominance until Lynda opened the floodgate with her second strike in the 32nd minute. The final third half of the first half saw three more goals being pumped into the Nepal net as Sunita Munda, Santhiya and Priyanka Devi etched their names on the scoresheet with goals in the 33rd, 40th and 43rd minute respectively. Kolhapur: Sethu Football Club (Madurai), the only team from Tamil Nadu in the prestigious Hero-Indian Women’s League, began their campaign in the Qualifying league Group A with a resounding 16-0 win over Baroda Football Academy in Kolhapur (Maharashtra) on Saturday (Nov 25).
