I-League: Gokulam FC will be renamed as Malabar FC

The bid evaluation committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), on Wednesday, cleared the decks for the inclusion of a new team from Kerala in the I-League.

Gokulam FC will play in I-league 2017-18 season

However, the team, Gokulam FC, will now be known as Malabar FC since the marketing agents of the AIFF did not approve the earlier name of the club.

"An official of AIFF's marketing agents joined the discussion on Skype. They wanted the name to be changed. The club has agreed. They have also agreed to play their home matches in Kozhikode," a federation official said.
