Minerva Delhi FC maintains top spot in Delhi Premier League after beating Uttarakhand FC 1-0

On the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Tarun Sangha, Minerva Delhi FC arrived at the Ambedkar Stadium to play their second Delhi Premier league game against Uttarakhand.

Minerva Delhi FC created a good chance in the 1st minute, as a viscous cross came in from the left. In an attempt to clear, the Uttarakhand defender headed it towards his own goal in the ball rattled the crossbar. The danger still lurked and Minerva Delhi hit the crossbar for a second time before it was finally cleared away.

Arthur Kouassi then received the ball near the edge of the D. The striker turned his man and unleashed a shot with his right foot, which required a good save from the goalkeeper to keep it out.

A few moments later, Sergio Barbozaz received the ball on the right. The Brazilian took a touch and lashed it across the six-yard box, but the Uttarakhand defense cleared got a block in.

Kouassi again had a crack at goal from a similar distance as his first one, but this time he couldn’t trouble the goalkeeper as the shot went high and wide.

Kouassi was again in the thick of the action as he was fouled in a dangerous position, but the freekick that followed went over the bar.

Minerva Delhi FC was winning plenty of freekicks late on in the first half, the last of which came from the right, but the goalkeeper parried it away.

Minerva Delhi FC went into halftime on the front foot, but with nothing to show for it.

Minerva Delhi began the second half comfortably keeping possession, with Uttarakhand mostly having to stay in their own half and defend.

The goal finally came, when a neat little through ball was played in from midfield into the path of Himanshu Jangra on the right, and he squared it for Kouassi, who put his right foot through it and found the bottom corner. Minerva Delhi went 1-0 up.

Minerva Delhi continued to pose threats, but Uttarakhand managed to survive them. However, they were unable to make anything happen down the other end, and it ended 1-0 in favor of Minerva Delhi FC.

With this, Minerva Delhi win their second successive game in the Delhi Premier League They now play their next game on December 17 against Friends United FC.
