Hero 75th NFC for Santosh Trophy to be held in Malappuram from April 16

 NEW DELHI: The Hero 75th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy is all set to kick-start on Saturday, April 16, at the Kottappadi Football Stadium in Malappuram. All the matches in the tournament are set to be held at two venues in Malappuram – the Manjeri Payyanaad Stadium, and the Kottappadi Stadium. The final of the Hero 75th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy is set to be held on May 2 at the Manjeri Payyanaad. A total of 10 teams will be participating in the tournament, with old foes West Bengal and Punjab set to kick-off the proceedings. The 10 teams have been divided into two groups of five each, with the top two teams from each group set to proceed to the semi-finals (April 28 and 29). West Bengal, Kerala & Punjab drawn together in tantalizing group in 75th edition of Hero Santosh Trophy

  The official draw for the 75th edition of the Hero Santosh Trophy was held in New Delhi with former India defender Gouramangi Singh assisting in the process. Ten teams who came through the qualifiers were drawn into two groups of five each for the main event which will be held in Kerala from February 20,2022 onwards. “I was very pleased to know that the Hero Santosh Trophy would be taking place in Kerala as it is a footballing state,” said Gouramangi. “It is a great initiative by the AIFF and Kerala Government and I wish the players all the best.” Group A could easily be classified as a ‘Group of Death’ with the likes of West Bengal, Kerala and Punjab going head-to-head along with Meghalaya and surprise package Rajasthan.  The 75th edition of the Senior Men’s National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy will kick-off on February 20-March 6 in Kerala with the Government of Kerala hosting the ten teams who have qualified for the final round. “We are grateful to the Government of Kerala for their exceptional support in taking Indian Football forward together. The AIFF values support coming in from the State Governments, and we look for a long-term fruitful relationship,” All India Football Federation General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das, who graced the occasion, averred. AIFF Deputy General Secretary Mr. Abhishek Yadav was also present. “The Santosh Trophy is an integral part of the Indian Football calendar and the AIFF values the passion surrounding the tournament. Kerala beat Pondicherry by 4-1 to enter the final round of the Santosh Trophy

Kochi: In the South Zone Group B final match Kerala beat Pondicherry 4-1 to enter the final round of the Santosh Trophy. With unbeaten in Group matches Kerala is in Top of the point table with 9 ponits. In the 21st minute Nijo Gilbert scored the first goal in a penalty. This is the fourth goal of Nijo in this series. Later Arjun Jayaraj double the lead in the 24th Minute. Anson C Anto scored for Pondicherry in the 39th minute. Score remain 2-1 just before the half time.  Kerala continue thier dominating performance in the second half as well. Noufal P N scored the third goal for Kerala in 55 minute. Santosh Trophy: Kerala thrashed Lakshadweep by 5:0

  Kochi: Kerala began their campaign in the Santosh Trophy South Zone qualifiers with an emphatic 5-0 over Lakshadweep at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday. Kerala opened the scoring early on in the fourth minute. Nijo Gilbert converted a penalty in the fourth minute to give Kerala the much-deserved lead. Jesin doubled the lead in the 12th minute. To put more pressure on Lakshadweep, Ubaidullah was sent off in the 26th minute for a foul on Mohammad Safnad. In the 36th minute, Lakshadweep goalkeeper accidentally hit Tanveer's leg and turned into a goal. Score remain 3:0 in the half time. S Rajesh made it 4-0 in the 82nd, while Arjun Jayaraj completed the tally in injury time. Kerala's next game is against Andaman and Nicobar on Friday.
